PM Promoter simply asks one very important question to your customers, team members and stakeholders. This question will help you get a quick snapshot of customer loyalty to your project management profession, which correlates to your ability to grow your profession. The question is, "How likely is it that you would recommend [my services] to a friend or colleague?"

Survey respondents then answer on a scale of 0-10, with ten being ‘extremely likely’ and zero being ‘not likely at all’. ‘Promoters’ are any customers who answer with a 9 or 10. Those who are ‘passively satisfied’ answer with a 7 or 8, and ‘detractors’ score 0-6. To calculate your PM Promoter score, simply subtract the percentage of detractors from the percentage of promoters. Your PM Promoter score indicates what percentage of your customers is actively helping you to grow - the higher your PM Promoter rating, the greater your growth of your project management profession.

What’s behind PM Promoter?

When a customer, team member or sponsor recommends you to someone else, they are putting a part of their reputation on the line. Therefore, in order for them to be willing to recommend you to someone, they must first be more than satisfied with your work for them. The scoring method prevents scores from being boosted by the ‘passively satisfied’ group by telling you how many customers are actually enthusiastic about your services. The PM Promoter concept is an easy way of gauging how well you measure up - all you have to do is send the question to all you past customers. It is quick and simple, but requires you to have the strength to take a good long look in the mirror.

Why Start Using PM Promoter?

When using this tool, you just have to select the people you wish to ask this question. They should be people you have worked with on projects, including team members, customers, end users, sponsors, and key stakeholders who have witnessed the results of your project management leadership.

Recipients will receive an email which will survey the question, "How likely is it that you would recommend [my services] to a friend or colleague?" The recipients will answer the question and the results are collected anonymously for you. Just create an account and start measuring. You can use it as many times are you like.
